We developed a vast, surreal and colourful world, visualised through animation, that reflects the turbulence of adolescence explored in Jacob Biermann's debut EP 'My Kingdom'.

Jacob has spent the past year developing his songwriting craft in his bedroom to hone the sound of his project. 2021 sees Jacob readying himself to take his next steps as an artist. As a songwriter, Jacob is sensitive and empathetic. He has an ability to tell stories – inspired by moments he sees, absorbs and narrates for his audience.

Animated Music Videos

Red

Red represents anger and frustration . It tells the story of someone struggling with their inner-demons, the difficulty of letting others in and the frustration of having those thoughts and feelings dismissed.

Complicated

When we set out to create the music video for Complicated, we wanted to create a world that could communicate and explore the universal struggle with one’s own self during adolescence. This struggle can take many forms but it often comes with a feeling of isolation.

With shifting corridors, desolate ruins and floating islands in the clouds, we built a surreal and vast environment that could highlight the character’s isolation as they struggle to come to terms with themselves.

The protagonist finds themselves in a loop, constantly running from themselves. It’s not until they chose to stop running and instead face themselves, to make peace with their own self, that they find moments of tranquility.

Losing My Grip

A lonely teenager seeks solace on the end of a dock. They soon find themselves diving deep into a surreal underwater adventure where they discover that sometimes, the only way to move forward, is to let go.

Lyric Visualisers

In addition to the three animated music videos, we also created four lyric visualisers for the remaining tracks on Jacob’s EP.
These were accompanied by a suite of static and animated social assets to promote the release of each single.
