TEDxSydney is the gold standard for independently run TEDx events and has become the leading platform for the propagation of Australian ideas, creativity and innovation to the rest of the world.

On Friday 5 August we gathered together at the Sydney Town Hall as a community for the first time in three years to celebrate Australian ingenuity, creativity and passion. Speakers from around the country asked us to question on a personal and global scale what marks we want to leave behind.

On Friday 5 August we gathered together at the Sydney Town Hall as a community for the first time in three years to celebrate Australian ingenuity, creativity and passion. Speakers from around the country asked us to question on a personal and global scale what marks we want to leave behind.

There was an opportunity this year to simplify and reintroduce the brand to a new audience of idea seekers.

We began with a comprehensive discovery phase, creating copy that would influence the theme and interrogating every aspect of the brand and talking to senior stakeholders across the brand. This resulted in a copy-driven marketing campaign.

The campaign helped ask the big questions and showed the brand’s depth as the leading platform for the propagation of Australian ideas, creativity and innovation to the rest of the world.

Our creative direction and design was seen across all forms including print, signage, screen, outdoor, digital, print, and social.

By simplifying TEDxSydney brand and refining its focus, a refreshed TEDxSydney was ready for another year of ideas worth spreading.

We created a copy-driven marketing campaign to create hype for the event.

The campaign helped TEDxSydney ask the big questions, showing the brand’s depth as the leading platform for the propagation of Australian ideas.

The creative comprised of grainy abstract forms which nod to fingerprints or marks left behind.

This was paired with bold and carefully considered typographic layouts that allowed the brand to communicate information clearly and ask questions bravely to their audience.

A bespoke layout system was developed that could be arranged with flexibility across a range of formats.

The typography system aimed to provide recognisability and consistency across touch-points while also bringing a contemporary feel to the TEDx brand.
